In the 1970s, Frank Benny was one of Buffalo's most ubiquitous broadcasters, with a popular daily stint on WGR Radio, a weather gig at Channel 2 and hosting duties on "Bowling for Dollars" 5 nights a week on the TV station. His mellifluous voice, breezy personality and occasional on air naughtiness ticketed him as a different breed of Buffalo personality. After his tenure at the WGR stations, the Chicago-bred Benny took over the morning show at WYRK-FM.
