It is 1919, and the frozen lake is the scene for these skaters enjoying a Buffalo winter. The lake's boathouse can bee seen to the left and the New York State Building, left over from the Pan-American Exposition, can be seen in the background. To the learned observer, the building, now the home of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, looks a bit smaller than normal. This is due to the fact that the dual additions on both wings of the building have yet to be built.
